The Miyagikyo distillery is situated in the Miyagi Valley, a region in the north of the Japanese island of Honshu known for its pure air and the quality of its natural springs, and produces a refined malt whisky with a distinctive fruity and floral freshness.

Miyagikyo Single Malt perfectly embodies the distillery’s delicate character. Maturation predominantly in ex-sherry casks lends this whisky’s natural charm an added depth.

The founder of the Nikka Distillery, Masataka Teketsuru was born into a family, that was successfully producing Sake (rice wine) since 1733. His first employer sent him to Scotland to learn about the technique and distillation processes in the Whisky production.
Some years later he came back to Osaka and build Japans first Whisky Distillery – which made him the pioneer of the Japanese Whisky production. In 1934 he decided to go his own way and search for the right location for the perfect Japanese Whisky.
