Glenrothes was founded in 1878 by William Grant & Co. and is located in the urban area of Rothes, Speyside. On May 15, 1922, warehouse No. 1 with over 2,000 barrels of whisky was destroyed by a fire and the burning whisky flowed into the Burn of Rothes right through the center. The current owner is Edrington Group Ltd.
