INDIA
India is one of the largest whisky producing nations in terms of volume. In the former British colony, whisky based on the Scottish model has been produced since the end of the colonial period in the 1940s. Due to the prevailing climate there, the whiskey matures particularly quickly and the evaporation process, the Angels Share, is many times higher than in Scotland. The best-known distillery in the country is the Amrut Distillery, which clearly stands out from the other manufacturers due to the quality of its products. Scottish barley is also used in part for production.
