In this category you will find a small selection of the best rums from all over the world. Like almost all great spirits, rum can look back on a very long and varied history. Today one can only speculate about the beginnings. It is most likely that the drink has its origins in the sugar cane plantations of the South Seas. Plantation workers discovered that molasses, a by-product of sugar production, begins to ferment under certain conditions. The resulting alcohol-containing solution was distilled and this is how the first rum was created. The great colonial powers quickly spread the art of distilling rum all over the world. We owe the incredible diversity of rum to this story today. As diverse as it is made and how it tastes, it can be enjoyed in so many different ways: pure, on the rocks, as a long drink or cocktail. We have sorted the rum in our shop according to its region of origin and according to its style. However, this is by no means an official classification, it is only for clarity. Due to the diverse manufacturing methods and the many manufacturing countries with different regulations, a clear classification as with whiskey or cognac in the rum sector is not possible.
