VODKA

Vodka is a mostly colorless spirit that was first mentioned in Poland in the 15th century. Various carbohydrate-containing substances such as grain, corn, potatoes, grapes, apples or molasses are suitable as a basis for vodka production. The production of vodka is similar to the brewing of beer. The corresponding starting material is crushed, placed in water and heated. The strength of the corresponding substances is released in the process. After adding the yeast, fermentation begins, resulting in a liquid with an alcohol content of around 6-7%. This liquid, also called mash, is then distilled. The number of distillation passes varies from brand to brand. Once the vodka has been distilled, it is usually filtered several times and diluted to the desired alcohol strength. The quality and properties of the water are of great importance for the taste of the end product. Most varieties have an alcohol strength between 37.5 and 56%. Vodka is usually only stored in appropriate tanks and containers. In the meantime, however, there are also some barrel-aged variants in the vodka sector. In addition to some well-known premium brands, you will also find a few exciting new products and varieties from smaller manufacturers in our vodka range.
