CARIBBEAN
The Caribbean includes the islands west of the Central American mainland. Rum is produced on virtually all of these islands and it is not least seen as the birthplace of rum production. This is related to the climatic conditions that have favored the cultivation of sugar cane for centuries. Most of the rums produced in the Caribbean are so-called blends, which are blended from several distillates. Overall, the variety of rums from this region is enormous, with each country having its own production and taste. For example, while the rum from Jamaica is considered to be rather powerful, rum from Barbados has a rather fruity note. Rums from the Dominican Republic, on the other hand, are often said to have sweet aromas.
