Glenlivet was the first legal distillery to be founded by George Smith after the “Art of excise” in 1824 with an official state license. It is located in Minmore near Ballindalloch in the Speyside. The location of today’s distillery has existed since 1858, in 1880 the distillery acquired the suffix “The” in court. Today’s owner is Pernod Ricard.
