Balblair is located on the old A9 not far from Glenmorangie and is therefore one of the northern Highland distilleries. There are reports that whiskey was produced on the site of today’s distillery as early as 1790 or 1749. Balblair’s roots date from 1841. The water comes from the Ault Dearg Burn, the malt used is sourced from the Glen Ord Maltings.

The 12-year-old Balblair is aged in former bourbon barrels and double-burned American white oak barrels. These barrels give it an aroma of lemon peel with creamy vanilla and green apple.

The 15-year-old Balblair matures in former bourbon casks and Spanish first fill (sherry?) casks. These casks give it an aroma of honey, spicy ginger bread, dark chocolate and fruit.
