The Dalmore distillery is very secluded on the north bank of the Cromarty Firth near Alness and belongs to the whisky region of the northern Highlands. It was founded in 1839. Very early (1870) the distillery started to use sherry barrels for storage, which give the smoky and somewhat dry malt a gentle sweetness. Richard Patterson and David Robertson are two well-known men from the whisky scene who work for Dalmore.
