The name of the distillery means “green valley”. It is located in the Speyside on the south bank of the Spey in Carron near Aberlour and was founded in 1851 by William Mackenzie. The whisky from the distillery was used almost entirely for blends, especially for Johnnie Walker. In 1950 the distillery got electric power, in 1960 it was converted from 4 to 6 stills.
