Glenfarclas 190th Anniversary – 51,7%

The iconic Glenfarclas Distillery celebrates its 190th anniversary with the final edition of the Anniversary Trilogy series: Glenfarclas 190.

July 28, 2026, marks the 190th anniversary of the family-owned Speyside distillery. To commemorate this special occasion, the distillery presents the Glenfarclas 190 special edition, a journey of flavors spanning five decades.

Glenfarclas 190 is the final special edition of the strictly limited Anniversary Trilogy, consisting of the 175th, 185th, and the final 190th edition, uniting five decades. True to the renowned full-bodied and powerful Glenfarclas character, this edition is bottled at 51.4% ABV. Presented at 90 British Proof, the historic measure used to indicate alcohol content during the distillery’s first 154 years.

The gift box is adorned with historic labels from various decades, showcasing 190 years of history and the Glenfarclas style of the trinity, shaped over generations: direct-fired stills, dunnage warehouses, and 100% maturation in Oloroso sherry casks.

The selection of casks was made by Distillery Manager Callum A. Fraser, recently named Scotland’s Master Distiller of the Year at the Icons of Whisky Awards 2026, together with Managing Director Douglas Belford, Master of the Quaich since 2025. Together, they select the casks for this edition, taking the reader on a “Five Decades Journey,” from the particularly fruity casks of the 1970s, through the opulent sherry notes of the 1980s and 1990s, to the sweet caramel nuances of the 2000s casks. The journey concludes with the 2014 vintage, which marks a significant change: Callum A. Fraser’s switch to a new yeast strain added fresh notes of green apple to the characteristic Glenfarclas aroma profile.

Fraser emphasizes “Glenfarclas 190 perfectly embodies the flavor of Glenfarclas – from the smooth, rich, velvety feel on the mouth to the flavors of green apples, sherry sweetness, spicy Christmas cake and long finish with a touch of dark chocolate and fresh tobacco. By drawing on spirit across five decades, we were able to pull out the fruitier notes from the 70s, rich sherried flavors from the 80s and 90s, and the toffee caramel notes from casks laid down in the 2000s.”
