The distillery lays at the bottom of the Ben Nevis, the highest mountain of Scotland, located at the Western Highlands next to Fort William. It was built 1825 by John McDonald, a descendant of the Lord of the Isles. Between 1984 and 1990 the production was stopped, after Nikka took over the company the production continued one year later. The water for Ben Nevis comes from the Allt A Mhullin Burn.

Ben Nevis Traditional Peated is a homage to the time when the grain was still dried over peat smoke. The first peated Ben Nevis d from new production was launched on the market in 2011, at that time still as a limited edition. Today, the peated malt is part of the distillery’s standard range.
