First-time special feature: Kilchoman PX Sherry Cask Matured is the first cask maturation that took place 100 percent in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Like Glenfarclas, Kilchoman sources its casks from one of the most renowned sherry cask suppliers, José y Miguel Martín from Jerez in Spain. This limited edition harmoniously combines citrus fruits and maritime peat smoke with the sweet PX character. The result is a complex, rich and fruity-sweet single malt.

Original Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet sultanas and raisins with rounded peat smoke and layers of liquorice and hints of citrus sweetness.
Palate: Brown sugar and malty sweetness then orange peel, citrus, dark chocolate and waves of sherry sweetness.
Finish: Chocolate coated raisins, oak smoke, mixed spices and lasting PX sweetness.

The distillery was opened by Anthony Wills in 2005. It was the first new-opening of a distillery on Islay after a pause of 125 years. It is located in the northwestern part of the island on a former farmer area and is the only distillery on Islay that isn’t located next to the sea. It also is the only distillery on Islay which may call itself ‘100% Islay’, using all the ingredients and doing every producing step on the island.
