The 16-year-old Kilchoman is the distillery’s oldest bottling to date that was not bottled for the Feis Ile Festival. The whiskey was stored in Bourbon Barrels and Oloroso Sherry Casks before being bottled as usual at 50%.

Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Distinctive vanilla, butterscotch and caramel with gently integrated peat smoke and maritime coastal aromas.
Taste: A wonderfully full mouthfeel with the characteristic vanilla notes from the bourbon casks and spices from the sherry casks, which together create a balance and real depth of flavor.
Finish: Soft, round and full-bodied with hints of peat smoke.

The distillery was opened by Anthony Wills in 2005. It was the first new-opening of a distillery on Islay after a pause of 125 years. It is located in the northwestern part of the island on a former farmer area and is the only distillery on Islay that isn’t located next to the sea. It also is the only distillery on Islay which may call itself ‘100% Islay’, using all the ingredients and doing every producing step on the island.
