Dingle Grianstad an Gheimhridh – 50,5%

The Irish are now celebrating winter with Grianstad an Gheimhridh. The single malt is a homage to the Celtic winter solstice festival of the same name. Grianstad means something like “the standing still of the sun”. And so Dingles Grianstad an Gheimhridh is also an expression for the season in which darkness takes hold.
The distillers express this in terms of taste by refining their single malt in dark-fruity Tawny Port Casks after initial maturation in Bourbon Casks. Grianstad an Gheimhridh exudes aromas of blackcurrant jelly, pomegranate, cinnamon toast and warm ginger on the nose. On the palate there are hints of red berries and dark chocolate with hints of warm cloves and creamy, soft fudge. The spicy aftertaste slowly subsides and leaves a lingering sweetness on the tip of the tongue.
