Five eight-year-old Fresh Bourbon barrels filled with the lightly peated Wolfburn New Make in 2015 were blended and bottled at 50% strength.

The result is a complex, finely peaty Wolfburn, with a lot of caramel sweetness as an equal counterpart to the peatiness of the base distillate – an extremely delicious drop, which was also highly praised at the 10th Anniversary Roadshow with over 400 guests in the preview!

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Nutty notes and salty caramel underpinned by light peat smoke and hay. Develops fruity, pear compote with clove, ripe peach.
Taste: Complex and lush, caramel fudge, crème brûlée, toasted sugar. In addition earthy flavours and notes of dark chocolate, sweet jelly banana and tropical fruit, melon, papaya.
Finish: Long lasting and creamy with grapefruit, blood orange, popcorn. A light charcoal note well integrated.

The distillery which is existing today was built in 2011 at the place the old distillery was standing. The old one started producing in 1993. Wolfburn is located in the Northern Highlands in Thurso and gets its water from the same-named river Wolfburn.
