Clynelish 2015 – North Star – 55,9%

A young Clynelish that delivers exactly what fans of this distillery love: spice, wax, light fruits – plus a surprisingly exotic note that you don’t come across every day in your glass.
The refill hogshead gives the distillate plenty of scope to showcase its typical character, whilst at the same time imparting subtle, elegant cask notes.

Nose:
A peppery apricot Danish pastry, warm, buttery and with a delicate pastry note. Accompanied by a hint of banana leaf, which brings a slightly green, tropical freshness into play.

Palate:
Robust and full-bodied: a mouthful of kretek spice – those Indonesian clove cigarettes with their sweet, spicy depth – combined with a distinct hint of cinnamon that wonderfully underscores the Clynelish character.

Finish:
Here, the famous Clynelish ‘waxy spice’ reveals itself in all its glory: waxy nutmeg cream, creamy and spicy at the same time. Accompanied by a cheeky, citrus-fresh handful of lemon and lime Tic Tacs, which make the finish bright, lively and surprisingly playful.
