The distillery Bruichladdich, which means as much as ‘corner of the beach’ is the most essential distillery generally. It was built 1881 by the Harley Brothers. After the distillery was shut down for a period of time there was proclaimed on the 20th of December 2000 that it would be re-opened again. Already in May 2001 there came the first newmake out of the stills. The success of the distillery is closely connected with the activities of one of the most significant men in the whisky industry whose name is Jim McEwan. In 2012 the distillery once again changed its owner for 58 Million pounds and is now owned by Remy Cointreau.

Tasting Notes:
Ripe orchard fruits, toasted oak, and delicate floral notes open up on the nose, followed by fresh lemon and citrus orange. Candied peel and stone fruits are balanced on the palate by malt barley sugar and ground almonds, with a slightly salty note reminiscent of the whisky’s island origins. Bruichladdich’s elegant and fruity character comes to the fore in the finish with a lingering hint of citrus.
