Speyside and peat smoke, old-school and innovative: Benromach knows how to harmoniously blend contrasts. The experimental Contrasts series is a prime example of this. It is now expanding to include a 12-year-old single malt that combines delicate smoke with sweet bourbon notes and rare red wine characteristics from the Côte-Rôtie region.
Benromach Contrasts: Côte-Rôtie Wine Cask Finish was initially matured in first-fill bourbon casks before receiving its finishing touch in wine casks from Côte-Rôtie. Located on the right bank of the Rhône, south of Lyon, this appellation is considered one of France’s oldest—and most popular—wine-growing regions.
During a 26-month finishing period, it imparts aromas of warm spices and summer berries to Benromach’s limited-edition range, accompanied by notes of black pepper and orange zest, as well as a long-lasting, subtly smoky finish.
