In this special year, the Whisky³ bottling series is also getting reinforcements. With the 10th birthday of Whiskyhort from Oberhausen, the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the expansion of Schlüter’s Genießertreff from Wülfrath to include the whisky shop and the 120th anniversary of Flickenschild from Itzehoe, there is ample reason for a special bottling in keeping with the motto “3 shops, 3 anniversaries, 1 whisky!” Olaf, Dirk and Jannik chose a gentlemen’s dram from the island of Islay – ideal for an evening by the open fireplace or campfire. With the Kilchoman from a Blanc de Blancs barrel, a really special barrel was acquired. But first things first: The whisky was distilled on November 26th, 2016 and bottled for Whisky³ after just over 8 years on January 8th, 2025. The whisky from cask number 16/1103 was finally finished in a Blanc de Blancs (wine/sparkling wine made exclusively from white grapes) cask. This maturation also has a significant impact on the aroma of the Kilchoman Single Malt.

Tasting Notes
On the nose, the whisky has very fine sweet notes, with a little spice and a rather subtle smoky note for Kilchoman standards. In the taste, the typical smoky note of the 50 ppm comes out much more. This is accompanied by creamy butterscotch aromas, a slight acidity of fresh green apples and white grapes. This wonderful drop is rounded off by subtly spicy heather and honey nuances. The finish is intense and warming and a buttery and at the same time subtly bitter note literally sticks to the palate.

The 232 bottles of the whisky are now available from all three Whisky³ shops for €99.90.
