The Nagahama Single Malt – Second Batch is the second single malt release from the up-and-coming distillery. Whisky matured in Oloroso Sherry Casks since 2019, he combines it with whiskey from Islay as well as Bourbon Quarter Casks and barrels from the Chicago Koval distillery to create a full-bodied, soft experience with smoky and elegant nuances.

The island nation’s smallest whisky distillery is located on Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. Founded in 2016, Nagahama is part of a new generation of Japanese distilleries – and a response to the increasing demand for domestic premium products. The team around master blender Takashi Kiyoi distills the malty raw whiskey spirit in just 26 square meters. The equipment for this adapts to the space: Nagahama works with the smallest pot stills in Japan. The alambic stills provide extra fullness and depth.

The craft distillery’s aged stocks are still small. For their Amahagan World Blends, Nagahama combines their own spirit with selected malt whiskeys from around the world. After four bottlings with different barrel finishes, the Amahagan World Malt – Peated Edition now completes the series.
