CUTTY SARK is named after the legendary three-masted tea clipper Cutty Sark, one of the fastest ships of its time. The ship itself was named after the poem Tam o’Shanter by the famous Scottish writer Robert Burns.
The original label was designed by James McBey, a famous Scottish artist and avid sailor. Due to a printing error, the paper became bright yellow instead of cream, but over the years it became an accepted trademark.
