Orkney Single Malt 2011 Thompson Bros – 50%

This whiskey was distilled in 2010 at an undisclosed Orkney distillery. It was bottled by the Thompson Bros in 2022 after aging in a refill hogshead.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Brine, capers, crushed black olives, honey, wax, heather, earthy, musty and quite peaty. Pickled walnuts, burnt brioche. Like sitting in an old dunnage (near a smoking kiln)
Palate: Salty & peaty with some sweeter notes; Brioche, croissants, buttercream. Briney olives & caperberries. Touches of heather honey and meadow flowers
Finish: Leather, lanolin, walnut oil, salty brine, sea spray, gentle smoke, kippers and a drying ashy note.
