The distillery Bruichladdich, which means as much as ‘corner of the beach’ is the most essential distillery generally. It was built 1881 by the Harley Brothers. After the distillery was shut down for a period of time there was proclaimed on the 20th of December 2000 that it would be re-opened again. Already in May 2001 there came the first newmake out of the stills. The success of the distillery is closely connected with the activities of one of the most significant men in the whisky industry whose name is Jim McEwan. In 2012 the distillery once again changed its owner for 58 Million pounds and is now owned by Remy Cointreau.

“The great story of the Bruichladdich Distillery almost came to an end in the 20th century when this
had to close temporarily. In 2001 the stills from the Victorian era were put back into use
put into operation. A few barrels patiently survived this time of upheaval, and so today we are able to
to bottle this magnificent 30 aged single malt. A real contemporary witness and exceptional whiskey. Bruichladdich 30 aged years is a symbol of perseverance and belief in yourself. Matured on Islay for at least 30 years in ex-bourbon casks and passed through the protective hands of experienced distillers and cellar masters,
Due to its rarity, this whiskey can almost be described as a “lost malt”. Patience, craftsmanship and knowledge that has been passed on from one generation to the next are the secret of this exceptional spirit, which impresses above all with its notes of sweet honey and dark chocolate.
A legacy of our distillery and a tribute to all who came before us, who are here today and to all that the people of the Isle of Islay are capable of producing!
TASTING NOTES
FRAGRANCE: The extremely elegant influence of oak brings with it notes of coconut, wild broom blossoms, Brazil nuts and a little vanilla. Subtle floral notes of geranium and rose merge with pear candy, candied lemon and a spicy hint of cinnamon. The nose concludes with the characteristic maritime influence of the wild Hebridean island of Islay.
TASTE: The subtle sweetness of roasted oak comes to the fore, followed by bright fruits, honey, fudge and a hint of leather. The floral character opens up over time and reveals depth and variety of flavor. American oak characterizes the softness and texture of this malt. The maritime, mineral character is reminiscent of fresh sea air – like a walk along the coast of Islay.
FINISH: The full ripening on Islay has a significant influence on the extremely long-lasting aftertaste. Lively minerality, warm oak, fine vanilla and sweet coconut.
