Bladnoch The Dragon Series – 5 x 70cl

Aptly named THE DRAGON SERIES, Bladnoch Distillery has released a set of limited editions – five bottlings, each symbolizing a stage in whiskey production. At each stage there are numerous factors that affect the final product, so the process resembles a kite curve.

The Mathematical Dragon Curve is a fractal object that branches out at each stage.
Similarly, whiskey production is a series of random factors and involuntary decisions that add complexity and opportunity as the process progresses.

The five bottlings optimally show the character of the Bladnoch distillate in combination with different types of casks. Bladnoch “DRAGON SERIES” I-V is only available as a set.

This set consists of:

1. Bladnoch “The Field”: Refill Bourbon – 46.7%. Factors: type of grain, cultivation area, weather, malting process, gate level
2. Bladnoch “The Spirit”: Bourbon – 48.3%. Factors: water, yeast, mash tun, fermentation, still shape, cut points
3. Bladnoch “The Casks”: 1st Fill Spanish Oak Sherry & 1st Fill American Bourbon Cask – 49.9%. Factors: type of oak, growth, wood pores, cooperage, toasting level, first filling
4. Bladnoch “The Aging”: Red Wine Hogsheads & 1st Fill Bourbon – 51.1%. Factors: Dunnage Warehouse, Storage Location, Seasons, Humidity, Temperature, Ripening Time
5. Bladnoch “The Decision”: Hungarian Tokaji Wine & Spanish Canasta Sherry – 53.1%. Factors: cask stock, selection, blending, nose, taste, alcohol strength, finish
