With The Whisky Trail, the independent bottler Elixir Distillers brings together casks that take connoisseurs off the beaten whisky track. As part of the trail, only whiskies with outstanding characteristics are bottled. Or chivalrous, as in the current Knights series. The four single casks show their best side in keeping with their status: neither chill-filtered nor coloured, but instead eye-catching and full of strength and flavour.
Single grain from Strathclyde is so popular with Scotland’s whisky blenders that it is rarely found as an independent bottling in a single cask. Like the Strathclyde 1987/2022, this 35-year-old single grain from Glasgow develops delicious notes of orange jelly, buttermilk and whipped cream alongside vanilla cream and cake batter.
