Saltverk Salt Arctic Thyme from Iceland is a mixture of small salt flakes with wild Icelandic thyme. The floral aroma of arctic thyme, which prefers to grow on gravel soils and dry heathland, is reminiscent of the scent of a summer rain in Iceland’s wild nature. The salt for this melange is obtained manually and is a purely natural product that contains the minerals of the Nordic Arctic Ocean.
Saltverk Salt Arctic Thyme goes perfectly with Icelandic lamb as well as all other game meats. It is also ideal for smoking meat.
Saltverk is a young company based in the western part of Iceland. It is located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, which separates two fjords and is surrounded by high mountains. Here salt is produced using traditional handcraft using a method that is over 200 years old.
The salt is obtained from the pure water of the northern Arctic Ocean – this is how the pyramid-like salt flakes of Saltverk get their special taste and their content of valuable minerals.
