At the Nc’nean distillery in the Highlands, they follow the path of Neachneohain, the Gaelic queen of spirits and guardian of nature. For the ‘Malted Teacake’ edition, a special Belgian ale yeast was used, which lends the distillate an exceptional malty depth. Maturation took place in a precise blend of 56% STR wine casks, 42% ex-bourbon barrels and a small proportion of Oloroso sherry casks, which gives the organic barley a complex, structured aroma.

Nc’nean is Annabel Thomas’ dream come true of a modern, sustainable whisky distillery in Scotland. The distillation on the coast of the Morvern peninsula has been running since 2017.
The whisky is made from organically grown Scottish barley in a distillery that is 100 percent renewable energy. It is bottled in the UK’s first fully recycled clear glass bottle. “Made by nature, not by rules” is the motto of one of the few women-run whisky distilleries in the world.
