This tubular short pasta was originally a twice as long, typically Neapolitan pasta shape, traditionally broken to a “medium” length of 4-5 cm, hence the name. In Neapolitan colloquial language it is also known by the feminine variant Mezzanielle, a nickname that suggests a versatile type of pasta suitable for any sauce.
Ingredients: durum wheat semolina, water. May contain traces of mustard, soy and black squid ink
