The distillery was founded in 1824 by John Beith & Co and is located in Campbeltown. Single buildings still are existing and still are used by the Springbank distillery today. A twice peated whisky is released under the name Longrow since 1985. Additional the three times peated whisky with the name Hazelburn is released as well.
