At Daftmill Farm, everything actually revolves around the cultivation of malting barley, the rearing of beef cattle, potatoes, carrots and broccoli. Since 2018, however, the farm of the Cuthbert family from Fife in the Scottish Lowlands has been firmly on the whisky world map: after more than 12 years of waiting, Daftmill then brought its first single malt onto the market. The Cuthberts produce their Scotch in very small quantities, sometimes no more than 100 barrels a year, exclusively from their own barley. Distilling takes place in the low season (June and July as well as in winter) when neither potatoes have to be planted nor barley sown.

The new Daftmill 2011/2024 is based on barley of the Publican variety, which was harvested by John and Sandy on 28 and 29 August 2009. Malted at Crisp Malt in Alloa in the summer of 2010, the farm distillery distilled its winter batch release. 27 first fill bourbon casks were filled in December 2011 and recently bottled in 7,500 bottles.
