The barley for this bottling of Port Charlotte comes from a total of 7 farms, all of which are located on the Isle of Islay. The heavily peated barley was distilled in 2013 and matured for seven years in American whisky casks, before some of it was transferred to French red wine casks. When married and bottled, the whisky comes to a proud 8 years.

The distillery Port Charlotte was founded in 1829 by Colin Campbell. After having many different owners it was shut down in 1929. The warehouses still exist and are also used. The distillery used to have the name Lochindaal or Loch Indaal as well. There are produced and bottled whiskys in Bruichladdich unwder the name ‘Port Charlotte’. The announced reopening by Bruichladdich has not been realized until today.
