The Kilchoman Madeira Cask matured in a total of 46 Madeira barrels and was bottled at 50%. The whiskey used was distilled in 2016 and the barley malt used contained a phenol content of 50ppm. The aroma of the Kilchoman Madeira Cask has strong smoky notes with fruity orange, peach and citrus notes, which are rounded off by walnut, chocolate and dark fruits.

The distillery was opened by Anthony Wills in 2005. It was the first new-opening of a distillery on Islay after a pause of 125 years. It is located in the northwestern part of the island on a former farmer area and is the only distillery on Islay that isn’t located next to the sea. It also is the only distillery on Islay which may call itself ‘100% Islay’, using all the ingredients and doing every producing step on the island.
