Cape Breton is one of the few places outside Scotland where Gaelic culture is lived. In the early 19th century, Scottish emigrants made their home on the Canadian island, which in its scenic beauty is so much like Scotland’s mainland and islands. In the luggage of the pioneers: Customs and skills from home – such as the distilling of whiskey. Glen Breton stands in their tradition.
The Canadian single malt whiskey is made in the picturesque Glenora distillery in the province of Nova Scotia. With the start of production in 1990, it is the first single malt distillery on the North American continent. Built with the expertise of the Bowmore Distillery, it is equipped with Scottish pot stills made of copper. The Canadians distill a wide range of award-winning single malts in them.
