El Tequileño Tequila Reposado – 38%

Tequila is booming. But apart from mass-produced agave spirits or hyped celebrity brands, it still exists: the unadulterated craft product from the independent traditional company with a focus on quality instead of quantity. One of the leading brands in this segment in Mexico is El Tequileño.

For their agave spirits, which are certified as “additive free”, sugary Blue Weber agaves from the Los Altos region are carefully cooked and fermented in open concrete tanks influenced by wild yeasts. They are distilled in copper pot stills, matured in American, French or Hungarian Oak, but never chill-filtered, coloured or generally added.
