The Dalmunach 2016/2023 was combined from First Fill Oloroso Sherry and Red Wine Firkins. This type of barrel is well known in the brewing industry, but is rarely encountered in whiskey maturation. The small firkins, which only hold 60-80 liters, promise intensive contact with wood. The two Best Dram Small Batches develop complex notes of red fruits and nuts or chocolate.

Dalmunach is a relatively young Speyside distillery in Carron, located on the former Imperial distillery site and part of the Pernod Ricard group. It is likely that much of the production will be used for Chivas Regal blending and that single malts from Dalmunach will tend to be rarer.
