Embra is Holyrood's second release. The single malt will appeal to “peatheads” – and it is also the answer for everyone who has not yet drunk peat whiskey. It does capture the classic, strong smoke flavors and textures. Balanced with chocolate, cookies and light fruits, it is particularly accessible to new whiskey drinkers. Embra was distilled from 56 percent peat malt and matured three times in a combination of first fill bourbon barrels, Islay quarter casks and New American oak barrels. Named after a slang term for Edinburgh, Embra features an illustrative design inspired by images of Saint Leonard. Because: Holyrood is not just on St. Leonard's Lane in Edinburgh's Southside. St. Leonard was also the patron saint of barrel makers. Tasting Notes: Nose: Lemon peel, horse chestnut, with hints of peppermint and light hickory smoke. Palate: Wafer cookies, dark chocolate mousse and notes of earthy Highland peat smoke. Aftertaste: Pear compote with a round, clean finish.

Privateer Rum demonstrates its art in a special way in single cask bottlings of the Letters of Marque series, named after the letter of marque, the legal basis for privateering. The Letters of Marque Single Cask No. 574 has been exclusively selected by Kirsch-Import. Its base: Grade A Guatemalan molasses, produced in a factory that ensures commitment to the environment and to the standards of sugar cane workers. Extensively fermented in 6 days at cool temperatures, it was double distilled in the pot still and the aromatic result left to the barrel magic of a New American Oak cask. After 4 years and 4 months of maturation in the maritime climate of Massachusetts, the rum with a full-bodied 57% vol. flowed into 228 bottles in vintage look. Base: Molasses Distillation: Pot Still Tasting Notes: Nose: Sweet vanilla and coconut shavings are followed by dry tropical fruits and dark caramel. Palate: Dry and spicy at first. The alcohol is present but not unpleasant. The middle is marked by beautiful dark red fruits. Towards the end, the vanilla and coconut are again very present. Finish: Long and pleasant with still a lot of coconut and chocolate.
