"Na Sia" (Gaelic for "the six") is what the island distillers call their unique whisky recipe. It combines peated and unpeated raw spirits from the distillery. Both types of raw spirit are matured separately on Raasay's coast in three types of casks each: First Fill Rye Whiskey Casks, Virgin Chinkapin Oak Casks and First Fill Bordeaux Red Wine Casks. The Na Sia Single Cask Series showcases the distinctive flavours of each of these six casks individually: The Peated First Fill Rye Whiskey Cask and the Unpeated First Fill Rye Whiskey Cask are matured in Rye whiskey casks from Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky, where 53% rye is used in the mash. They develop exciting pepper, sweet spice and butterscotch notes in the Raasay Single Malt.
