Royal Brackla 2011 MMcD PX Sherry – 57,2%

Founded in 1812, the Royal Brackla Distillery became the first Scottish distillery to be granted a Royal Warrant by King William IV in 1833. For this edition in the “Benchmark” series, independent bottler Murray McDavid selected a Highland single malt distilled in 2011 that initially matured in classic sherry casks. It underwent a final finishing period in exclusive barriques from the renowned Bodegas Ximénez-Spínola. This dual maturation in high-quality European oak significantly shapes the character of the limited release—with only 928 bottles available.

On the nose, the honey-hued whisky reveals an inviting bouquet of milk chocolate, walnuts, and fresh cookie dough. On the palate, it makes a bold, full-bodied impression at a robust 57.2% ABV, where creamy malt meets the vibrant fruitiness of red apples and mixed berries. The finish is long-lasting, concluding elegantly with notes of dried cranberries, soft fudge, and a delicate hint of cinnamon pastry.
