The distillery of the same name is located at the foot of Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, in the western Highlands near Fort William. It was built in 1825 by John McDonald, a descendant of the Lord of the Isles. Production was halted between 1984 and 1990 but resumed a year after the distillery was acquired by Nikka in 1989. The water for Ben Nevis comes from the Allt a’ Mhuilinn burn.

Distilled in the shadow of Scotland’s highest mountain, this single malt has matured for nine years since 2017. It owes its distinctive complexity to a finishing period in a first-fill orange wine cask (cask no. 6)—a rare choice that adds an entirely new dimension to the robust Ben Nevis style. Bottled by the renowned independent bottler Signatory Vintage for the exclusive “Dragon” series, the whisky remains at its natural cask strength of 59.0% ABV, is non-chill filtered, and displays its natural amber hue.
