Founded in 1798, the Highland Park distillery in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands is Scotland’s northernmost distillery. Thanks to its unique location—and specifically the Orkney peat, which differs significantly from Islay peat—the whisky possesses a distinctive flavor profile. One of its signature notes is the oft-cited “heather-honey sweetness.” The water is drawn from a lower-lying source, Cattie Maggie’s Quarry.

Distilled on September 30, 1999, at the legendary Orkney distillery, this single malt spent a full 26 years in a refill Oloroso sherry butt. Independent bottler Best Dram specifically selected cask number 5337 to marry the distillery’s maritime DNA with the delicate spice of the sherry. Bottled on July 17, 2026, this single-cask release is limited to just 498 bottles and represents craftsmanship in its purest form.
The eye is delighted by a warm amber hue that harmonizes perfectly with the atmospheric sunset-themed label. On the nose, a complex bouquet unfolds—featuring heather honey, dried apricots, and delicate orange zest—subtly underscored by a hint of earthy smoke. On the palate, the whisky presents itself with a robust 55.7% ABV, revealing layers of caramelized nuts and spicy sherry notes before fading into a long-lasting finish of oak and roasted hazelnuts.
