The Octomore distillery was founded in 1816 by George Montgomery in Port Charlotte on the island of Islay. In 1852, Thomas Pattison took over the distillery, which was closed later that same year. In 2008, Bruichladdich had plans to reopen Octomore, but these plans were never realized. However, since 2008, Bruichladdich has been bottling a heavily peated single malt under the name “Octomore.”

Octomore 17.3 highlights the barley, its origin, and the character of the region. This spirit-forward expression combines powerful peat with elegance and nuanced flavors. Sweet first-fill oak reveals notes of salted caramel, smoked apple, and toasted
coconut. These are complemented by praline and vanilla cream. Deeply charred peat settles over the palate as dry, ashy smoke, while citrus oils and saltiness provide clarity. Over time, the spirit, the cask, and the grain combine to form a powerful yet balanced dram.
Phenol content: 132.1 ppm
Barley origin: Grown exclusively in a single field at Octomore Farm on Islay
Cask maturation: A blend of first-fill bourbon casks and second-fill casks from Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswein, and Syrah
