Product information "Knut Hansen "Vatnajökull" Gin - 44%"
For the fifth special edition, the creators of Knut Hansen embarked on an exciting journey between fire and ice – it went to Iceland. There, not only the breathtaking natural beauty of the country was admired, but also deeply immersed in the (sometimes crazy) distillation culture and mysterious botanicals of the country.
As a result, the VATNAJÖKULL Edition was produced on-site together with Hakon from Hovdenak Distillery at his unique Iceland vacuum still in Reykjavik – of course with local ingredients such as arctic thyme, Icelandic moss, reindeer moss, black crowberry and kelp seaweed, handpicked during the trip .
Thanks to the local Icelandic expertise, the volcano-filtered water and the local botanicals, a unique recipe has been developed and the impressions and experiences brought together in 500ml.
Of course, great importance was again attached to the appropriate bottle design. The front is adorned with a drawing by the Icelandic artist Hlíf Una and the corks with the individualized thalers also provide a collector’s item.
As every year, our special edition is strictly limited to 3,000 bottles. Part of the proceeds will support an Icelandic nature conservation organization that works locally to protect the glaciers.

PX and Oloroso sherry casks lend this Highland malt depth. Enjoy silky notes of raisins and spicy oak. If you regard Highland single malts as something to be savoured mindfully, you will find this dram a convincing companion for those moments when time plays a secondary role. It is the character of the Scottish Highlands that is reflected in this spirit, building a bridge between traditional craftsmanship and modern enjoyment.

Since 2022, a truly unique spirit has been produced on the ‘Queen of the Hebrides’: Islay Rum. Inspired by traditional Caribbean distillation methods, the Islay Rum Company – the island’s first and, to date, only rum distillery – produces rum varieties rich in esters using a pot still and twin retort still, adopting an experimental approach, working by hand and in small batches. Between Kilnaughton Bay in Port Ellen and Borraichill Hill stands a pot and twin retort still that is unique in the UK. Developed by Head Distiller Ben Inglis, it produces Islay Rum – a smooth, ester-rich spirit that is effectively triple-distilled in a single distillation run. The base for this is molasses and aromatic residues from the previous distillation – essentially ‘Islay dunder’.

The distillery Bruichladdich, which means as much as 'corner of the beach' is the most essential distillery generally. It was built 1881 by the Harley Brothers. After the distillery was shut down for a period of time there was proclaimed on the 20th of December 2000 that it would be re-opened again. Already in May 2001 there came the first newmake out of the stills. The success of the distillery is closely connected with the activities of one of the most significant men in the whisky industry whose name is Jim McEwan. In 2012 the distillery once again changed its owner for 58 Million pounds and is now owned by Remy Cointreau.

Their full-bodied taste with highly aromatic ester notes is guaranteed by five strictly defined production methods - including fermentation with wild yeasts and maturation for at least eight years in Jamaica's tropical climate.

Glenfiddich (valley of the Fiddich, or valley of the deer) plays a very special role in the history of single malt Scotch whisky. In 1963, it was the very first whisky to be bottled and sold as a SINGLE MALT. The distillery, built in 1886 by William Grant and his family, is still family-owned today. As it did over 100 years ago, the water for Glenfiddich comes from the Robbie Dubh spring. The company's other distilleries are Balvenie, Kininvie and the Girvan grain distillery.
