Glendronach, the “Valley of the Dronach,” was founded in 1826 by James Allardice on the Dronachburn in the Valley of Forgue, northeast of Huntly in Aberdeenshire, and is thus part of the Highlands region. For a long time, Oloroso sherry casks were used almost exclusively for aging Glendronach, a practice that continues to shape its style today. Along with Glenglassaugh and Benriach, it is owned by the Benriach Distillery Company Ltd.
