Product information "Glenallachie 19 Years Solera Sherry Cask "4cl Sample" - 50%"
4cl sample of the Glenallachie 19 Years Solera Sherry - 50%
Master Distiller Billy Walker is known for his precise cask management and has unearthed a true rarity for the "Masters of Wood" series. This single malt matured in ex-Solera sherry casks that had previously been part of a traditional solera system for over 55 years. This venerable wood gives the spirit a unique complexity that can only be achieved through extreme spans of time and craftsmanship, before it was bottled at a robust 50% vol.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Ripe plum notes merge with the dark sweetness of molasses and strong mocha. A hint of honeycomb and cocoa gives the nose a profound, inviting richness.
Palate: On the palate, a dense medley of plum syrup and heather honey unfolds, accented by finely balanced, spicy cinnamon. The texture is silky and impresses with remarkable aromatic depth.
Finish: The finish stands out for the noble bitterness of ripe walnuts and intense dark chocolate. An elegant echo of dried fruit ensures a long-lasting and multi-layered conclusion.
More about the Glenallachie Distillery
The distillery: back in private Scottish ownership since 2017. Founded in 1967, The GlenAllachie Distillery was owned by foreign corporations for a long time. In 2017, The GlenAllachie Distillers Company bought the Speyside distillery, along with the filled casks in the warehouse. Its new owners: long-standing Scotch whisky luminary Billy Walker and his partners Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson. The new team was introduced to the distillery's special features by its long-serving staff. Among them: the distillery has four stills and two separate spirit safes, so it can produce two different spirits in parallel, for example peated and unpeated new make.
Until then, The GlenAllachie Distillery produced almost exclusively for blended whiskies. Single malt, on the other hand, was extremely rare, available for example through independent bottlers. That changed in 2017 with the takeover by the team around Billy Walker. Age statements for its single malts are important to The GlenAllachie: the Core Range consists of a 10, 12, 18 and 25-year-old whisky. In addition, regular single cask and special releases are planned, and from 2018 even a peated whisky.
