Mortlach 2007 "Dragon" Bolgheri Cask #102 "4cl Sample" - 56,6%

Product information "Mortlach 2007 "Dragon" Bolgheri Cask #102 "4cl Sample" - 56,6% "

4cl sample of the Mortlach 2007
Kirsch Dragon - 56,6%
First Fill Bolgheri #102

In the heart of Dufftown, Mortlach produces a spirit that is often regarded as particularly full of character thanks to its complexity. For this bottling from the renowned independent bottler Signatory Vintage, the whisky was matured for 19 years after its distillation in 2007. What makes it special is the choice of cask: a 1st Fill Bolgheri hogshead gave the spirit its profound structure over the years. This former red wine cask from Tuscany has a decisive influence on the whisky, which was bottled at natural cask strength in July 2026 in a limited edition of just 287 bottles.

In the glass, the single malt already shows an inviting terracotta colour that points to the intense interaction with the wine cask. On the nose, a dense bouquet unfolds in which ripe cherries and dark berries meet a fine malty sweetness. On the palate, the full power of its 56.6% vol. comes through, yet it is harmoniously integrated into a texture of stewed fruit and spicy oak. The finish is long and dry, with the dark fruitiness of the Bolgheri region lingering on the palate for a long time.

4cl sample of the Highland Park 1999 Best Dram #5537 - 55,7% Refill Oloroso Sherry Butt Founded in 1798, the Highland Park distillery in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands is Scotland's northernmost distillery. Thanks to its special location, and in particular Orkney peat, which differs considerably from Islay peat, the whisky has a distinctive flavour. One of its core aromas is the much-quoted “heather honey sweetness”. The water comes from a lower-lying spring, Cattie Maggie's Quarry.

Octomore 17.3 "4 cl Sample" - 60.9%

4cl sample of the Octomore 17.3 - 60,9% Octomore 17.3 puts barley, provenance and the character of place at its centre. This spirit-led bottling combines powerful peat with elegance and nuance. Sweet first-fill oak shows itself in salted caramel, smoked apple and toasted coconut, joined by praline and vanilla custard. Deeply charred peat settles over the palate as dry, ashy smoke, while citrus oils and salinity bring clarity. Over time, spirit, cask and grain come together in a dram that is both powerful and balanced. Phenol level: 132.1 PPM Barley provenance: Grown exclusively on a single field of Octomore Farm on Islay Cask maturation: Cuvée of first-fill bourbon casks and second-fill casks from Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, ice wine and Syrah

The Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, whose name means “corner of the beach,” was built in 1881 by the Harley brothers. After the distillery had been closed for some time, it was announced on December 20, 2000, that it would soon resume operations. As early as May 2001, the first newmake flowed from the stills. Bruichladdich's success is closely linked to the work of one of the most influential figures in the Scottish whiskey scene—Jim McEwan. In 2012, the distillery changed hands again for 58 million pounds. The current owner is Remy Cointreau.
