The Scotch Universe series is an independent bottling series created by Michel Reick. The labels reveal a fair amount about the origin of the whiskies, but the exact distillery name is not given.
Ganymed V gathers dark matter in the glass: matured in a first fill Bordeaux Supérieur barrique, this island malt condenses the dark fruity sweetness of grapes and plums with a trace of spices such as rosemary.

With Scotch Universe he takes you on a journey of flavour as complex and fascinating as space itself. Along the flight path lie distilleries from every region of Scotland, offering hand-picked single malts or single grains. Some are smoky and stormy like a stellar collision. Others are calm and balanced like the dark side of the moon. All are named after celestial phenomena.
Colour spectra, dazzling light or deep darkness: discovering the Scotch Universe can feel like looking through a telescope into unexplored worlds. And just like those worlds, the brand's whiskies don't give away all their secrets. What is certain: all come from carefully selected casks bottled separately in Scotland, are neither chill-filtered nor coloured, and are bottled at a high cask strength. On top of that, the label with its coordinates leaves plenty of room for speculation and a spirit of discovery.

4cl sample of the Highland Park 1999 Best Dram #5537 - 55,7% Refill Oloroso Sherry Butt Founded in 1798, the Highland Park distillery in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands is Scotland's northernmost distillery. Thanks to its special location, and in particular Orkney peat, which differs considerably from Islay peat, the whisky has a distinctive flavour. One of its core aromas is the much-quoted “heather honey sweetness”. The water comes from a lower-lying spring, Cattie Maggie's Quarry.

Distillation has been running on the coast of the Morvern peninsula since 2017. The whisky is made from organically grown Scottish barley in a distillery powered 100 per cent by renewable energy. It is bottled in the UK's first fully recycled clear glass bottle. Fittingly, "Made by nature, not by rules" is the motto of one of the few female-led whisky distilleries in the world.

4cl sample of the Mortlach 2007 Kirsch Dragon - 56,6% First Fill Bolgheri #102 Mortlach is the oldest distillery in Dufftown, the centre of Speyside. It was founded in 1823 on the banks of the Dullon, but draws its water from the Conval Hills. Its whisky is distilled in a special process using six stills, one of which bears the lovely name "wee witchy", little witch.

It is located in Minmore near Ballindalloch in Speyside. The current distillery site has existed since 1858, and in 1880 the distillery won the right in court to put “The” in front of its name. Today it is owned by Pernod Ricard.

At the foot of Scotland's highest mountain, Ben Nevis in the western Highlands near Fort William, lies the distillery of the same name. It was built in 1825 by John McDonald, a descendant of the Lord of the Isles. Production was halted between 1984 and 1990; after the takeover by Nikka in 1989, production resumed a year later. The water for Ben Nevis comes from the Allt A Mhullin Burn.

The Octomore distillery was founded in 1816 by George Montgomery in Port Charlotte on the island of Islay. In 1852, Thomas Pattison took over the distillery, which was closed later that same year. In 2008, Bruichladdich had plans to reopen Octomore, but these plans were never realized. However, since 2008, Bruichladdich has been bottling a heavily peated single malt under the name “Octomore.”

The Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, whose name means “corner of the beach,” was built in 1881 by the Harley brothers. After the distillery had been closed for some time, it was announced on December 20, 2000, that it would soon resume operations. As early as May 2001, the first newmake flowed from the stills. Bruichladdich's success is closely linked to the work of one of the most influential figures in the Scottish whiskey scene—Jim McEwan. In 2012, the distillery changed hands again for 58 million pounds. The current owner is Remy Cointreau.
