Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt - 43%
Masataka Teketsuru, founder of the Nikka Distillery and the forefather of Japanese whiskey, was born in 1894 into a family that had been successfully producing sake since 1733. In 1918, his first employer sent him to Scotland so he could learn production techniques, distillation processes, and gain experience in whiskey production.
A few years later, he returned to Osaka, built Japan’s first whiskey distillery, and thus became the pioneer of the Japanese whiskey industry, which is now successful worldwide. In 1934, he decided to strike out on his own and search for the ideal location to produce the perfect Japanese whiskey.

Product information "Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt - 43%"
Named after the founding father of Japanese whiskey, this blended malt reflects the vision of a man who learned the craft in Scotland and perfected it in his homeland. The blend draws on the characterful, slightly smoky malts from the coastal Yoichi distillery and the floral, fruit-forward distillates from Miyagikyo. This marriage of the purest malts made from malted barley creates a balance that embodies both artisanal discipline and a cosmopolitan curiosity.
In the glass, the whiskey displays a deep, shimmering old gold color. The nose greets you with an expressive blend of juicy pear and fresh citrus notes, accompanied by a subtle herbal spice and a hint of peat. On the palate, a silky texture unfolds, characterized by grain aromas, sweet cardamom, and candied fruit. The finish remains true to the whisky’s complex character, ending with a subtle bitter note reminiscent of dark chocolate, underscored by a discreet hint of smoke.
