Jack and Wallace Milroy founded their London whisky shop in Soho in 1964; the Vintage Reserve continues their tradition of carefully selected single malts. This Scotch whisky made from malted barley comes from the Bowmore distillery on Islay and matured for 15 years in a single ex-bourbon barrel. The single cask bottling comprises 268 bottles and was bottled at 55,6 % vol., non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring.
On the nose you will find gentle beach bonfire smoke, sweet cream toffees and creamy vanilla, accompanied by a subtle salty note. On the palate, honey and caramel combine with creamy oak; the smoke remains present without masking the sweetness. The finish is dry and clean, with fading wood smoke, a little salt and a hint of pepper.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Gentle beach bonfire smoke combines with the sweetness of cream toffees and creamy vanilla. A subtle maritime saltiness gives the bouquet a clear, lively structure.
Palate: On the palate, a soft interplay of honey and caramel unfolds, supported by fine oak notes. The restrained smoke is harmoniously rounded off by a gentle salty component.
Finish: The finish is dry and marked by fading wood smoke and a fine maritime note. A hint of pepper makes for a precise close.
