Product information "Bowmore 15 Years - 43%"
Since 1779, the Bowmore distillery has been producing whiskies prized for their expressive style. The foundation is hand-turned malt, dried in peat-fired kilns, which gives it its characteristic smoky note. For this 15-year-old bottling, the distillery marries hand-selected ex-bourbon casks of American oak with Oloroso sherry casks of European oak, giving the spirit its special depth over a decade and a half.
In the glass, the whisky shows a cool golden hue. The bouquet opens with sweet vanilla and roasted almonds, which gently give way to notes of stewed apple, warm pastry and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, a rich texture of candied orange and blackberry jam unfolds, accompanied by a delicate, salty sea breeze. The finish lingers for a long time and recalls the typical scent of smouldering wood smoke from a slowly dying fire.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Warm vanilla and roasted almonds merge with the scent of stewed apple and freshly baked pastry. Nuances of cinnamon, raisins and dark chocolate lend the bouquet an inviting complexity.
Palate: Candied orange and roasted walnuts harmonise with the fruity richness of blackberry jam. A subtle salty note underlines the maritime character of the full body.
Finish: Long-lasting with a fine presence of wood smoke. A spicy note ensures a structured and profound close.
